Joshua B. Dougan, a native of West Tennessee, founded The Dougan Law Firm, PLLC, in 2013 where he practices in the areas of personal injury and civil litigation, juvenile law, and criminal defense.
Mr. Dougan is licensed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to practice in all Tennessee state courts. He is also admitted to the Federal District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. Dougan is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, where he is extensively active in the Young Lawyers Division. He is also a member of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, and the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Dougan graduated from Union University in 2006. At Union, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Political Science. Mr. Dougan received numerous awards at Union including the Political Science Major Award and the Elizabeth Tigrett Medal.
Mr. Dougan graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2009 with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. While in law school, Mr. Dougan was twice named as a member of the Jerome Prince Evidence Moot Court Team and was elected to the Order of Barristers. Upon his return to Jackson, Mr. Dougan practiced at a large law firm throughout West Tennessee where he handled a variety of cases in both federal and state courts. His work included personal injury defense, workers’ compensation, and civil rights litigation.
Mr. Dougan and his family are active in the Jackson area, where his wife is a violin instructor and member of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
